What does a degree in international relations consist of?
International relations studies consist of analysis of geopolitical movement, political science, international law, economics and sociology of the countries of the world.
It should be noted that international relations is more than an academic discipline. In truth, they drive governments around the world. Each country has its own international relations studies. Their objective is to solve economic problems and conflicts.
In what types of institutions can one study international relations?
International relations can be studied at the following institutions:

Studying international relations in a school of political studies
At HEIP, you will find a personalized education to enter the field of international relations. As soon as you graduate, you can start the Bachelor cyclefor 3 years. This program teaches political science, law, economics, geopolitics and geo-economics.
During the first year, the student will become familiar with the various elements of the legal, economic and geopolitical system. HEIP will provide him with tools and methodologies for analysis.
During his second year, he will learn about various methods of analysis, the fundamentals of international relations and political science.
From the third year onwards, the student takes courses in alternation. In other words, it will follow:
- lectures;
- tutorials ;
- group work ;
- correspondence course ;
- seminars ;
- face-to-face courses ;
Midterms, simulations or defenses will be held at the end of each semester to evaluate the level of each student.
Each course is comprised of a series of lectures, small group tutorials, and specialized conferences.
HEIP offers introductory sessions on professional sectors each semester. The school supports students in their individual or collective projects as well as in the preparation of conference cycles.
What is the curriculum at HEIP for studying international relations?
The HEIP curriculum lasts 1 year. During this year, you will learn the basics of international relations. Each course allows you to analyze the political, economic and legal aspects of each state, especially the European Union.
You will benefit from 15 course themes, including modern languages, French foreign policy and Europe in the world. You will be accompanied throughout the year, with :
- fundamental courses ;
- tutorials;
- correspondence courses ;
- seminars ;
- face-to-face courses;
At the end of the year, you will have to write a research paper, followed by an oral presentation. To enter the MSc program at HEIP, you must first have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in humanities, economics, politics or social sciences. Then, put together an application and take an oral test. As for the tuition fees, you must pay 80 € for the application fee. 9200 € with a reservation of 1100 € and 92 € of tax to be paid before the beginning of the school year.
Studying international relations in a business school
It is quite possible to follow a curriculum in the field of international relations in a business school. It offers long courses to obtain a BTS or a Licence.
These institutions offer a very good rate of integration into the world of work, with 86.3% of graduates finding a job within two months of graduation.
Study international relations in a marketing school
